Glaze 101 with Wren Morrocco

Glazing is more than just the finishing touch - it’s a crucial part of the ceramics process that impacts the durability and aesthetics of your work and the wear & tear on our kilns.  In this hands-on winter workshop, Wren will introduce you to the basics of glaze chemistry and guide you through multiple ways to apply glaze beyond the standard single dip.  Students will be encouraged to find their glaze aesthetic, deepen their familiarity with our studio glazes or their personal glazes, and strategize their glaze choices from before their pieces are even bisqued. In addition to making different styles of test tiles during class, you can bring several small - ½lb. to 1lb. - pieces of bisqueware to practice glazing on a range of your favorite forms.  This workshop ends with a group feedback session so everyone can learn from the final results of their glaze explorations.
