Becoming a Sewist 2: building skills for garments

Looking to build your skills in garment sewing and beyond? Have you taken our beginner course or dabbled in basic sewing at home?

Then this class is for you!

Join Marybeth Sweeney as she returns for a 102 course on garment sewing skills. In this class students will work on a unisex cotton shirt pattern, which can be adapted and custom fit for you.

Test fabrics, thread, notions and supplies are available at MAXT. Students will need to choose and provide 3yds of cotton shirting or similar in their choice of pattern/color.

- Shirt Yokes and the importance of ironing, sleeveboards and pressing hams

- Sleeves—long, short, and the ever-tricky shoulder seam

-Review of how we handle mistakes–MINDSET, altering your project on the fly, and completion with grace

-And of course—Finish and Flare–making your unique mark on a handmade garment with piping, embroidery, rick-rack, thread color, and specialty stitches
