Digital Recording and Microphone Fundamentals

Learn about audio interfaces and digital audio workstations, how they work and how to use them.
We’ll study the difference between analog and digital formats as well as a brief history on the matter.
Come to understand the world of microphones, the different types and their applications.

Audio Production in a Recording Studio

Your chance to visit a local professional recording studio, learn how an audio production facility works and hear it in action. We’ll take an in depth look at recording a variety of sound sources, editing and comping,
room acoustics, listening with speakers vs. headphones and more.  

 
Audio Post-Production in a Recording Studio

Learn the basics of mixing, how to balance multiple signals and how to make your audio sound its best.  
Demonstrations will include critical listening using a variety of playback devices, how to start and finish
a mix, strategies and techniques, and more.  


The first session will take place at MAXT Makerspace with the second and third session in the Loud Sun studio in Jaffrey.
