Beginning Copper Plate Drypoint Printmaking

  • MAXT Makerspace @ Noone Falls 50 Jaffrey Road Peterborough, NH, 03458 United States (map)

Join professional printmaker and experienced instructor Tracie Pouliot for this 3-evening class with optional work days in between. Drypoint is a very atmospheric form of printmaking which allows you to make multiples that have rich, dense blacks as well as fine lines and subtle details. You will learn the basics of drypoint using a copper plate and a sharp needle tool to scratch into the plate, the unique process for printing drypoint with oil based etching inks, and how to set the pressure on MAXT’s etching press! In between classes, you can opt to work on your own from home or in the space during open shop times if you'd like to build up your image more or print some proofs. To complete the class, you will learn how to tear paper in the traditional way, and how to print an edition of your image. You’ll walk away with a small edition of black and white prints you can keep or give as gifts.

No experience necessary. Ages 14 and up. We have some aprons, but it never hurts to bring your own and/or wear clothes you don't mind getting ink on. You may also want to bring a package of disposable rubber gloves that fit you snuggly.
